Achala Yoga

The Sanskrit term "Yoga" originates from the root "yuj," meaning "to unite." Achala Yoga represents the merging of the Self with the ultimate reality, Brahman.

The yogic practices at Achala Ashram go beyond the general focus of modern yoga, which primarily emphasizes physical fitness, health, and happiness. These Sadhanas (techniques) are categorized as "Soumya Raja Yoga Kriyas”, designed to be accessible for a common man balancing his worldly responsibilities.

  • Achala Yoga encompasses all four groups of yoga: Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga. It serves as an integrated spiritual capsule, where each form of yoga acts as a step, leading to the next in the spiritual evolution of the seeker.
  • Achala Yoga is a spiritual practice that offers meditation techniques and knowledge to address the influence of the ego, enabling individuals to gain control over their experiences and life.
  • Achala yoga meditation practices foster self-awareness, allowing us to recognize ego-driven thoughts and behaviours. This heightened awareness helps to differentiate between the ego's influence and one's authentic self.
  • Achala yoga cultivates detachment from the ego's desires and attachments. This detachment doesn't involve suppressing the ego but rather understanding that it does not define one's true nature.
  • Achala spiritual practice underscores humility as a countermeasure to the ego's tendency to seek recognition and superiority. Through humility, individuals can release the need for constant validation and comparison.
  • Meditation, as encouraged by Achala yoga, promotes being present in the moment, distinguishing from the mind's constant chatter, and focusing on the here and now.
  • Achala yoga encourages the development of compassion and empathy towards oneself and others by acknowledging the shared human experience, diminishing the ego's divisive tendencies.
  • Achala Yoga and meditation practices provide spiritual tools and techniques to observe, understand, and gradually transcend the influence of Yeruka. By developing self-awareness, humility, and a connection to a higher truth, individuals can gain control over the ego, experiencing greater inner harmony, authentic self-expression, and a sense of interconnectedness with all beings.
